Tips for your wildlife adventure

Early morning (6:00 AM - 9:00 AM) and late afternoon (3:00 PM - 6:00 PM) are the best times. Yala Block 1 is famous for sightings, but Wilpattu offers a more secluded experience.
Yes, it is very safe. You will be in a sturdy 4x4 jeep with an experienced driver and often a park tracker. Do not get out of the vehicle unless permitted.
A telephoto lens of at least 300mm to 400mm is recommended for birds and elusive animals. A wider lens is great for landscapes.
Most parks are open year-round. However, Yala Block 1 sometimes closes in September/October for drought relief. During this time, we visit other blocks or parks like Bundala.
